Dear Reader,
I was going to let our 5th anniversary slide by, but 5 years seemed pretty big... I have been so fortunate to have met hundreds and more than likely thousands of people of Newark or Newark in their hearts. I have tried to share as many stories as I can, however I often can't keep up with my inbox. For Kai and I, running NewarkPulse has been one of passion rather than profits. We love Newark, we live here, we are raising two daughters here, we are active in organizations and serve on many boards and committees and we endlessly promote Newark! Oh and yes, we have invested in Newark and opened a restaurant on Halsey Street (Burger Walla). We live by what we try to promote - Shop Local, Eat Local and Support Local Media.
Here are some of the highlights of 5 years! We have reached nearly 1 million visitors and shared nearly 3 million stories! We have coordinated the largest Halsey Block Parties in 2010, hosted 3 Shop Local campaigns, created a city-wide Happy Hour, organized Newark Small Business Week. We printed a college guide to Newark, create an annual downloadable Summer Guide. We've created community groups and more.
What's to come? We will be debuting a new look and website later this year. We are also curating unique events to experience Newark and small businesses in new ways.
